Two years ago my husband and I discovered that our “new” porch, less than 6 years old was rotting off the front of our home. The builder had left the posts unsealed and unprotected and it literally had rotted from the inside out. We had no idea who to call, we had not planned such an expensive repair so soon to our new construction home.  We had several contractors come out and estimate the job and were extremely fortunate to have a friend recommend Vince and his crew.

Vince was the only one that returned phone calls the same day, the only one who put an estimate in writing, and the only one who showed up to quote the job when he said he would…and he was also the only reasonable price quote we got. The others were thousands over what we had estimated the job would cost but Vince came in right around where we thought it should be.

At first we were nervous, after being so accustomed to being ignored by contractors in general and considering it a blessing if they ever showed up, we thought timeliness might be a red flag! We were so glad we were wrong. Vince and his crew WERE on time, moved quickly to get the job done and when we had a few glitches here and there with design, they pointed them out before continuing, even at one point redoing an area with no complaints or requests for extra charges.  Our porch turned out lovely, better than we expected and a huge improvement to the old design.

The following year we were very happy and confident when we called Vince and the guys back for our next project, hardwood floors. Another great job with great service and a bill that reflected the amount we were quoted. We look forward to many more projects with Modern Home Contractors.  Thanks Vince!

Dear Vince,

Just a quick note to let you know how much we are enjoying all the changes that you have made to our home over the past few years.  I don't think there's an area that you haven't made improvements to in our home, and we have been thoroughly enjoying retirement even more because of those changes.  

The main floor renovation has made our home so much more convenient for us and our family and friends. It's a pleasure to entertain now that the space has been opened up and the flow is improved. We lived with a "one-person kitchen" for so long, that even now we are amazed at how well our kitchen works with the two of us. It's taught me to enjoy cooking and baking.  We were so grateful for all your suggestions for kitchen layout and for the experts you directed us to who were able to take our ideas and improve upon them.  You and your team were able to adjust to the changes we wanted as the work progressed and we appreciated your willingness to make those adjustments happen.  I know that we kept finding more and more work for you to do during this project and you were always happy to accommodate us.  The final product is still, after three years, making our lives more enjoyable and everyone who sees the transformation from old to new is so impressed.  We are still getting calls from friends who want to have work done by you.  Your best advertising is your craftsmanship.  It's such a big step to do a renovation of the size we did and you and your team made is less stressful.  Your attention to detail, your responsiveness to our needs, your commitment to  the job not  to mention your pricing all helped contribute to  the excitement we felt over the project without all the horror stories we heard  about from others who had attempted similar jobs.

Our confidence in your work has encouraged us to have you back again and again.  This last job - taking a basement from a storage place for 30 or so years of accumulation to a warm, cozy area for family - truly makes our home a place where family and friends want to gather. The grandchildren love having the space to play, Larry is so comfortable in his office and I enjoy the peacefulness of a room in which  to stretch out and relax with a movie or a good book.  Every day that space becomes more inviting as we move back into it.  It feels as if our living space has doubled with that project. With the colder weather approaching and as we move indoors, we are more and more grateful that we made the decision to turn a  cellar into  a family room. And  thank you, once again for your vision with the wine rack and the media cabinetry.  

I guess it was silly to think I could do this in a "quick note", but I did want to let you know just how happy we are with the work that you have done for us.  If you ever want to use our names for recommendations we would be proud to show off your craftsmanship.

We'll no doubt talk with you  soon....we're wondering if we should maybe ....

Dear Vince,

     Last spring when our 92 year old Dad could no longer live alone, we agreed to move him in with us.  At the time we had no idea how difficult it would be for him to get around our split level home with his walker.  When we tried to communicate our vision for a “Father-in-law” apartment to several contractors, we encountered difficulties getting our ideas across.  We needed a large room that was even with our main floor.  It had to have doorways and openings wide enough to accommodate the walker, while remaining cozy enough so as not to seem like an institution.  It needed to be bright and airy with an expansive view of the back yard with its trees, flowers and our vegetable garden.

     You not only understood our descriptions perfectly, but were able to sketch them clearly on paper so that we could see our dream take shape in three dimensions.  The required architectural drawings for the code enforcers were beyond our comprehension, but that’s all that your competitors were able show us. 

     Once we signed on with Modern Home Contractors, you handled all the details with the permits and met with all the various inspectors.  You stayed within our budget, met all your deadlines and closely supervised your workers and subcontractors.  You left no mess at the conclusion of the job and returned twice as promised to cheerfully look after a couple of details.  I don’t think I ever saw you without a smile on your face and you’d always answer our stupid questions with patience and without patronizing us.

     Here we are a year later and Dad is happier than ever.  He loves his apartment and having his family nearby.  Finally, we are all grateful for the safety and security that your excellent craftsmanship has provided.  Next spring we’ll have you add the deck to complete the back side of your masterpiece!

Dear Vince and crew,                                                                                                                    

     I wanted to write and let you know how pleased we are with our new addition. We had outgrown our house but after looking at homes for sale, we debated staying here and adding on. We liked the neighborhood and schools for the kids and after seeing the prices of homes and the hassles of moving, called you to see what our options were. Between the great ideas you had and the cost to add on verses moving, I know we made the right decision. We were most impressed with how hard you guys worked every day, even on Saturdays. The quality of our 3 new rooms is excellent and even though we made a few changes from the original blueprints, everything stayed within budget. I don't know how I ever survived fighting over one bathroom with 3 kids every morning. Having my own master bath is truly a dream come true. I would highly recommend you and your crew to anyone without hesitation. My only regret is I wish we had more money for some other improvements. I'm sure we'll be calling you back soon.
